End of school year 2019

Dear students, parents and staff,

The end of the school year is fast approaching and I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your wonderful effort and support for Internationella Engelska Skolan Nacka.  As always, we continue to strive in our academic development and in our desire to improve our professional and personal relationships.

Professionally, IES Nacka is cooperating with Nacka municipality with (SSPF) Skola Socialtjänst Polis Fritidsverksamhet, Barn och Ungdoms focus as well as Nacka teacher training (VFU) program.  We have brought in the fire department to train all students on fire safety and improved the security of the school building. The cooperation between the school and parents is continuously improving.  Activities to raise money with Giving People, trips to amusement parks, museums, as well as organizing visits from educational institutions. The IES Nacka student council has been more active than ever before.  The improvements to the school environment and efforts in the food council have been greatly appreciated. Personally, our staff and students have displayed an openness, kindness and willingness to include others that is lovely to witness and be a part of.  The school leadership are truly thankful for all the participation of our families, community, staff and students at IES Nacka.

Academically the development continues at our school with brilliant national test results and individual achievement.  The Year Level 9 students have achieved the highest grade point average in the schools history and eight students have earned 340 points.  We have diversified our learning with the creation of Project week. Twenty-one different multi-year level (4-7) teams created amazing projects during week twelve, with a final day of displaying their work for parents to come and take part in.  The creativity and resourcefulness was great to see. Lastly, we want to mention the dedication of our school assistants in conducting inspiring competitions, craft projects, and joyful events for junior club as well as driving the reading initiative for Year Levels 4-6. It has been a brilliant success and we are encouraged by so many avid readers using the library facilities during the school year.

We at IES Nacka wish you a relaxing and peaceful summer of 2019.  Please remember the first day of school for 2019-20 will be Thursday the 15th of August.

Best regards,

Donald Christian

Student work in Textiles

In the light garden all of this terms Textiles students work is now being exhibited.

We are very proud of their work this term, their designs are fun and versatile, and their products are worked through and well made and they have worked really hard to get to this point.

Good to know is that the students only get white organic cotton material to work with so anything you see in any other color (including the knitted hat!) is either hand-dyed or upcycled/scraps and everything is made entirely by the students (with the exception of 2 pairs of jeans and the leather jacket that's been upcycled by the students)

Yearl Level 8 Getting Ready for the Future!

On Monday, May 20, all Year Level 8 students attended a presentation from IES Nacka's SYV (studie-och yrkesvägledare/ study and career counselor) during Mentor TIme.  The students were able to get information and ask questions as they begin to prepare for 9th grade and beyond!

Welcome to the UK!

Welcome to the UK!

After a week of trip planning, including budgeting for flights, hotels, rental cars, attractions, and places to eat, 4C traveled to the UK last Friday! After successfully getting through passport control, students stopped in some historic places like, Stonehenge, The Roman Baths, Wales, and Loch Ness. A few went home with some souvenirs but everyone went home with memories and a full stomach. Stay tuned for our next trip to the US!
